The beach
Crooklets
Crooklets sits on the Bude run. Swell, wind and tide for this beach and the neighbours, so you can pick a peak before you leave the car park. Today is cloud, 16°, 1kt ESE.
North Cornwall beach break with punchy peaks and a strong tidal range. Summerleaze next door is the high-tide option.
If Crooklets is on the rocks, walk south to Summerleaze. Widemouth is the shout when you want more space.

Parking
Cornwall Council Crooklets (EX23 8NF, 158 spaces, tarmac plus grass in summer). 1 April–31 October 9am–6pm: £2.70 / £5.30 / £7.70 / £11.70, weekly £29.20; evening £2.50. Winter 9am–4pm: £1.50 / £2.70 / £5.70 / £7.20.
Hire & lessons
Bude Bay Surf School (Miles Lee-Hargreaves) is based at Crooklets and also uses Summerleaze. Raven Surf School is Widemouth, not Crooklets.
Vibe
Family and groms plus intermediate. The school: beginners, families, and Salty Groms holiday camp (ages 7–14). Their own notes: Crooklets is the more powerful wave, better for intermediate or advanced; Summerleaze is the sheltered beginner option.
Access & hazards
Met Office Bude – Crooklets (Beach): high risk of rips. The school: surfable at low or high; they pick Crooklets or Summerleaze on the day. RNLI 2026 Easter/May lists name Summerleaze and Widemouth rather than Crooklets, so treat flags on the day as the rule.
