Barrel Monkey (https://barrelmonkey.surf) is a surf timetable, wave map and merch catalogue for Devon, Cornwall and South Wales. This policy covers the website. It is not legal advice.

Who we are

We trade as Barrel Monkey. Company number, registered office and VAT will be listed here once the legal entity is in place. Message us on Facebook.

What we store

There are no accounts. Your bag is saved in this browser as localStorage (barrelmonkey-cart) so it survives a refresh. Cookie preference is saved the same way (barrelmonkey-consent). We cannot read those values from our server.

If you sign up for surf alerts we store your email and the beach slugs you picked, plus confirm and unsubscribe tokens. That list lives in our database. We use it only to mail you the morning a picked beach scores a Go. We do not sell it, and we do not pass it to a CRM or mailing-list company.

Checkout is a demo till. Name, email and address you type there are not sent to us or to a payment processor. No card data is collected until Stripe is connected.

How we send alerts

Confirm and “surf is on” mail is sent through Resend, who process the message on our behalf. They are not given the list to market from. You can leave any time with the unsubscribe link in the email, or message us on Facebook and we will delete the row.

Forecasts, maps and cameras

Swell, wind, weather and sea level come from Open-Meteo. High and low tide clocks come from WorldTides. The map uses Mapbox. Some beach stills and live cameras come from Windy. Those services receive a request from your browser or ours (including IP address) under their own policies. We do not sell that traffic on.

Analytics

Analytics stay off until you tap Accept analytics on the cookie banner. The Google tag loads with storage denied; we only grant analytics cookies if you accept. Essential-only keeps them denied.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy, a correction, or deletion of alert data. Message us on Facebook. You can also complain to the ICO (ico.org.uk).
