The beach
Whitesands
Whitesands sits on the St Davids run. Swell, wind and tide for this beach and the neighbours, so you can pick a peak before you leave the car park. Today is cloud, 16°, 2kt SW.
West-facing St Davids beach that catches a lot of swell and still works when the fetch is more north-west.
The north end by the headland often has the more defined peak. Can get heavy in winter.
Faces W. Best swell WSW–NW. Level: all. Crowd: average.

Parking
St Davids City Council attended car park. Charged 1 March–31 October: car £6.50, after 3pm £4, Blue Badge £4.50, motorbike £5, weekly £30. Free November–February.
Hire & lessons
Ma Simes Surf School is on Whitesands beach (by the ice cream van), with a shop in St Davids, lessons and hire. Cool Water Surf Adventure is also Whitesands-based.
Vibe
RNLI: one of the best surfing beaches in the UK. Ma Simes: beginner, improver and private lessons from age 8, family and beginner lessons on a serious west-facing beach.
Access & hazards
RNLI Whitesands 2026: Easter 28 March–12 April; then daily 23 May–6 September, plus shoulder weekends and October half-term; 10am–6pm; no flags means no lifeguards. Met Office: high risk of rips. Ma Simes coaches are local lifeguards.
