The beach
Newgale
Newgale sits on the Pembrokeshire run. Swell, wind and tide for this beach and the neighbours, so you can pick a peak before you leave the car park. Today is cloud, 16°, 2kt E.
Two miles of west-facing shingle-to-sand. Lots of room, plenty of swell, and a long walk between peaks.
The pebble bank at high is no joke. Wait for the tide to drop onto the sand.
Faces WSW. Best swell SW–WNW. Level: all. Crowd: quiet.

Parking
Pembrokeshire Coast National Park The Pebbles. Charging 1 March–31 October, 9am–7pm: 30 minutes free (no return within 4 hours), then £1.50 / 1 hour, £4 / 2 hours, £6 / 4 hours, £8 all day. Free November–February. Newsurf on the beach (SA62 6AS) has its own free parking, separate from Pebbles.
Hire & lessons
Newsurf is the only surf school situated on Newgale Beach, lessons, shop and hire (foamies through to performance shortboards and longboards).
Vibe
Newsurf: beginner, family and children’s lessons plus intermediate and advanced; hire from foamies to longboards; plenty of space on the two-mile strand. Family and longboard-friendly beachbreak, not described as competitive.
Access & hazards
Met Office Newgale Sands: high risk of rips. Newsurf: lifeguards during school holidays. RNLI Lifeguards North Pembrokeshire have named Newgale Central and South as patrolled in season. Newsurf’s “safe for the young and not so expert” is the school’s own line, sitting alongside the Met Office high-rip rating.
